Adapted from Luke 2:29-32
Linden Gate October 1979
The first time we used drums in church – it was nearly the last.
Let your servant, Lord now go his way
For my eyes have seen this day
The salvation you’ve prepared.
Now you may share your purpose with all who turn and own your name.
Let your glory Lord be now made known;
Your great power to all the nations shown.
God has made Himself a man; our guilt and pain no longer can hold terror,
Neither can the grave: This child has come to heal and save.
Praise the Lord from whom all blessings flow
Praise him all His creatures here below.
Praise Him all His heavenly host –
Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The score below includes some of the words of an earlier version of the song “Take My Hands”. Do not let your hearts be troubled: rather like the Bible itself there have been many alternative versions over the years.
