Jesus Bids Us Shine

Jesus bids us shine with a clear pure light
like a little candle burning in the night.
In this world of darkness we all must shine;
you in your small corner and I in mine.
He looks down from heaven to see us shine,

Jesus bids us shine first of all for him.
Well he sees and knows it if our light is dim.

Jesus said, O yes he said: I am the Light of this dark world.
Whoever follows me shall never, never walk in darkness
but shall have the Light of life.
And now you are the light of the world; a city on a hill cannot be hidden.
You are the salt of the earth, but if it’s lost it’s flavour
you throw it out!

So my brothers work out, work out your own salvation
for God is at work in you to will and work his pleasure.
So do all things without grumbling.
Live as the children of God in a crooked perverse generation;
and holding the Word of Truth, shine out like lights.
