Reconciliation Overture

  1. Reconciliation Overture -:-- / -:--

Gnu’s Reconciliation  – A Grand Festive Overture contains half of a joke borrowed from Beethoven, a touch of Mahler, and hopefully captures to a greater degree the contrast of material found in Elgar’s  Pomp and Circumstance March No.1. In his own faltering way Old Gnu tried to capture the atmosphere of the Last Night of the Proms. But, above all, he wanted to do Sir John Goss’ wonderful hymn the justice it deserves. (He was such a nice man.) We seem to have a knack of making it sound so tedious and boring in our church services. Well take a hold of this. I also hope it goes to show that a jolly ditty framed the right way can sound completely at home alongside a sublime melody and vice versa.
