Psalm 144

  1. Psalm 144 -:-- / -:--

Bless the Lord for he’s my rock! He trains my hands for war –
war on evil in my heart, its devastating power.
He’s my shield, my refuge strong – God, in who I will trust.
He will put rebellion down, till all acknowledge the Lord is king,
till they bow down and they worship him.

What is man, O Lord, that you should show him love and kindness,
or the son of man, that you should care for him?
He is like a breath, his days are like a passing shadow.
What is man, O Lord, that you should care for him?

Shake the heavens, O Lord, come down, make mountains smoke and quake.
Send your lightning through the skies, and set the clouds ablaze.
Stretch your hands from heaven, O Lord, come and rescue my soul;
from deep waters save me, Lord. Then I shall praise you with songs anew,
worship and bless you with harp and lute.

You gave victory, Lord, to faithful monarchs, and to David;
from the cruel sword bring me deliverance now.
Snatch me from my foes, and save me from their lies and falsehood.
You bring victory, Lord; make haste to rescue me.

Bless our sons, Lord, may they stand like towers, strong and tall.
Bless our daughters, may they be as sculptured pillars, Lord.
Fill our barns with corn and grain, bless the work of our hands;
bless our flocks and cattle stalls. Happy are they who these blessings own!
Happier are they who obey you Lord!
